Kåska Drinks requested an expertly designed, mobile-first, Shopify ecommerce solution that followed strict legal guidelines that regulate who can view and purchase alcohol online.
With Kåska's brand launch just days away, our first task was the creation of a countdown landing page, followed by a one-page website targeting press, investors, businesses and consumers.
Alpha Alias and our design team partner worked day and night to deliver a useful UX diagram, website wireframes, and finally, website layouts.
Sam Roon built the React page personally to protect the aggressive deadline, and hosted it on Alpha Alias servers.
The landing page was deployed on time, on budget and worked flawlessly for a significant amount of traffic in the coming days.
GatsbyJS and a whole lot of coffee.
We took a straightforward approach to the countdown page design, using Kåska's brand font, GintoNord Bold, and other existing brand elements.
We hard-coded a connection to Mailchimp and built a form that validates age dynamically to ensure regulation compliance.
GatsbyJS, a React framework, facilitated the super-efficient build.
One page* to rule them all
With the countdown page live, we immediately switched to the creation of Kåska Drinks' one-page site.
Our MVP one-pager design prioritised the mission of Kåska Drinks and their debut product, enabling Kåska to conduct early-stage business.
*The one-page website actually included two pages in total: a splash (front) page to comply with EU and Finnish alcohol regulatory requirements for the sale and marketing of alcohol, and the main page of the website.

Kåska's needs encompassed visuals, structure, and subtle cognitive triggers, along with an engaging content-based funnel.
Kåska's initial requirements specified an "expertly designed" and "mobile-first" website.
Kåska's Shopify homepage v1 translated brand guidelines into a mobile-focused UI layout, emphasising the emotional resonance of their mission.
Kåska regarded the initial homepage layout as "epic".

Shopify Liquid Framework Development
Navigating Shopify's technical constraints demanded innovative problem-solving to successfully integrate a rich and dynamic user experience.
Liquid is a dynamic open-source template language created by Shopify.
Liquid serves as the foundation for Shopify themes, enabling the seamless infusion of dynamic content across storefronts.
Shopify Liquid Development is the process of working with the Liquid framework directly to configure and code Shopify's proprietary platform template.
Despite its strengths, Shopify's technology has limitations when it comes to accommodating custom content and the flexibility of a website's layout.
Leveraging Shopify's content meta controls, we established a direct link to specific fields, enabling Kåska to seamlessly add and modify content within the admin panel without relying on third-party applications.
To enhance Kåska Drinks' uniqueness as a Shopify ecommerce venture, we introduced an additional blog to cater to their Cocktails feature, thus enriching the overall user experience.
